Amy Hume is a leading voice specialist in Australian theatre education and a highly sought-after dialect coach for stage and screen. She is one of only a handful of Designated Linklater Teachers in Australia, recognised for her expertise in developing the actor’s voice at every stage of their career.
Amy is currently on the academic staff as a Lecturer in Voice at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and was previously a Voice Teacher at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). She was the founder of the award-winning voice studio Viva Voice, and has been consistently named among the Top 5 Teachers of Voice, Speech and Communication by the Australian Music Examinations Board (NSW).
As a dialect coach, Amy has worked on celebrated mainstage productions, including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Fangirls, Matilda the Musical, Six, Billy Elliot the Musical and An American in Paris, for companies including Redstitch, Belvoir, Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Opera Australia, and Louise Whithers and Associates. Her screen credits include work for major streaming platforms and television networks on shows such as The Unlisted, Bad Behaviour, The Secrets She Keeps and New Gold Mountain.
In addition to her teaching and coaching, Amy regularly consults with corporate and government organisations on vocal presence, clarity, and persuasive communication. She has presented at national and international conferences and is passionate about voice training as a tool for both creative expression and confident communication.
